How to Keep your Business Safe Over Christmas

by | Nov 19, 2020 | News

As we enter the festive period businesses will need to start preparing for their shut down over the Christmas bank holidays.

Business owners across Gloucestershire need to take extra precautions when leaving their premises empty for the Christmas break. Unfortunately, empty businesses are a magnet for criminal opportunists. Particularly in today’s economic climate, thefts are on the rise.

It’s really important to take the time to secure your property and protect against theft at this time of year.

To help local business owners we have put together out top tips to keeping your business safe.

  1. Check & Protect

Ensure all gates, windows and doors are secure with locks and shut properly. Check intruder alarms and CCTV is also working correctly. If you have security detectors check that these are not obscured or covered in dust. We also suggest making sure that there is appropriate signage for CCTV as an extra deterrent.

2. Check In

We recommend checking in on your business during regular intervals over the Christmas period. You could also look to install timers on your lights to give the illusion of your property being occupied.

3. Remove Cash and Valuables

It seems obvious but remove cash and valuables from the premises, or at the very least move high-value items out of sight of shop windows. Any vehicles we recommend removing tools and other valuable materials to protect against theft.

Glevum Security provides a Mobile Patrol Service. Operating 24/7 and 365 days of the year, we can provide a highly visual security solution with our Mobile Patrol Service, allowing you to have a uniformedsecurity presence, rather than a static officer.
